HALIFAX, Nova Scotia–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#onestoryatatime–On Friday, October 18, 2019, Halifax-based special events company Over The Edge reached a major milestone of helping raise over $100 Million for non-profit organizations throughout North America and abroad.
Local entrepreneur Paul Griffith founded the Halifax-based Over The Edge in 2008. His vision created a new niche in adventure-based philanthropy where participants raise donations for the opportunity to rappel “over the edge” of a local high-rise building. The exclusive event relies on partnerships with local non-profits, building hosts, community partners, and volunteers to succeed; and on average, each event raises over $100,000 for the partnering non-profit. The money collected stays in each event’s community and is used to further the non-profit’s specific mission and make an impact on their clientele.
“In the past 10 years, we have executed over 1,000 events with close to 75,000 participants,” explains Griffith. “Every single one of those events and the Edgers who participated have brought us to this moment. Looking back to our humble start with a single event here in Halifax, the impact has been far beyond what we dreamt was possible.”
The company achieved its original major milestone of helping raise $50 Million in 2016, two years before their 2018 target. Now just three years later, they’ve doubled it. Over The Edge continues to grow and achieve its mission to help raise millions of dollars for non-profits.
Griffith believes the company’s success can be largely attributed to the dedication and passion of its 95+ global staff and the faith clients continue to show in the business. He is proud that global operations have remained in Halifax and celebrates the Nova Scotian history and roots of the company.
