Posted on October 22nd 2019
VANCOUVER, British Columbia–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Absolute (TSX: ABT), the leader in endpoint resilience, today announced two new appointments to the company’s executive leadership team. William Morris joins as Executive Vice President, Engineering and Ameer Karim joins as Executive Vice President, Product Management.
With more than two decades of proven product leadership, William Morris joins Absolute to lead all aspects of engineering and product development. Morris was most recently at BlackBerry, where he was responsible for leading a 400+ global engineering team and delivering security, mobile, cloud, and server solutions. Prior to BlackBerry, Morris held senior management roles at McAfee, AOL, and Netscape.
“I am delighted to welcome Will to Absolute and our leadership team,” said Christy Wyatt, CEO at Absolute. “Will has a proven track record for innovating and delivering world-class solutions across cloud, mobile and desktop computing at some of the biggest brands in the world. I’m confident his expertise and proven execution will enable Absolute to continue to scale our solutions and delight our customers.”
“Absolute’s technology is solving some of the most pressing challenges for businesses today: to bolster endpoint security and ensure existing investments in endpoint controls are truly protecting their organizations,” said Morris. “It’s a tremendous honor to join the executive team at Absolute to help scale its innovative endpoint resilience capabilities, which I am convinced is the next major wave of opportunity in enterprise security.”
With more than 20 years of experience in product innovation, management, and product marketing, Karim joins Absolute to lead product strategy and deliver solutions that solve customer problems. Prior to Absolute, Karim created a new business group at Symantec that delivered products and services around network security and IoT devices, resulting in new revenue streams. Karim has previously held multiple leadership roles at HP across its personal computing division and at start-ups in Silicon Valley.
“Ameer brings a unique vantage point and perspective given his product strategy background, delivering continuous innovation and customer lifetime value,” added Wyatt. “His proven, hands-on leadership as an entrepreneur, coupled with a do-whatever-needs-to-be-done attitude, will be a great addition as we continue to expand our solutions and the Absolute brand.”
“I am thrilled to join the pioneer in Enterprise Resilience,” said Karim. “The company is in a unique position, and with its technology embedded in more than a half a billion devices, Absolute is poised to transform endpoint security as we know it. I’m looking forward to driving our product strategy to accelerate future growth and capitalize on this tremendous opportunity.”
